Galenband is a unique heart rhythm monitoring platform which addresses an unmet clinical need around diagnosing intermittent heart rhythm problems. 

Galenband addresses the problem of long-term cardiac monitoring by providing doctors with a convenient wearable diagnostic that far surpasses the limitations of adhesive-based solutions, which typically operate for periods of 10 days or less. 

Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is the most common heart rhythm abnormality. It burdens people with a 5X risk of stroke, and in those who have a stroke, 26% experience stroke recurrence due to undiagnosed AFib. 

The short-term nature of adhesive-based solutions means that up to 80% of stroke patients do not receive adequate monitoring to identify and treat AFib to reduce their risk of stroke recurrence.

Key Highlights

• Technology: Prototypes have demonstrated continuous high-quality ECG capture from the upper arm without adhesives. The system is designed for up to 90 days of recording.
• Clinical evidence: Galenband has compared extremely well with hospital telemetry, Holter monitors and adhesive patches across multiple studies, including 14-days of high-quality recording and up to 20 days of successful wear.
• Clinical and industry support: Experienced cardiology and medical technology advisors include leaders with track records from Harvard, Stanford, Abbott, Verily, iRhythm, and other major institutions.
• Awards and recognition: Galenband has received numerous awards recognising innovation, usability, and medical engineering excellence, including from the world's top university - MIT, and taking first place in Enterprise Ireland Big Ideas, MedTech Startup Awards, and Seedcorn's Early Stage category. Additionally, Galenband won Irish MedTech Digital Health Innovation of the Year, and placed second of 1,835 applicants in MedTech Innovator 2026, and was accepted into the 2026 cohort of the prestigious HeartX accelerator.
• Grant support and IP: A Galenband-led consortium received a EUR6.9M DTIF award. Three patent families are active, including granted rights in the EU, US and Japan.
• Experienced team: The management team and board behind Galenband include seasoned entrepreneurs with prior exit experience and Forbes 30 Under 30 and MIT recognition), and specialists in engineering, clinical quality and ECG science, supported by advisors with prior commercial exits.
